Congrats with the game, it’s an interesting idea and one that really suits the platform you’re building for.
In the menu screen, the text on the finish line is kind of distracting when looking at the ‘Slap5’ title. It’s probably not as noticeable when playing on a smartphone but you could maybe create a separate asset without text to use just for the menu. Or blur out the background slightly so that the title stands out more.
I like how the camera shakes slightly when you high five someone, such a small detail but very effective. The transition between changing levels is also really fun to look at and makes the world seem more alive and 3-dimensional, however it also shows how bare the rest of the map is and could benefit from adding more sprites to it such as forests, towns etc. I’m sure you’re probably still working on that tho since it’s more important to get the game mechanics and all sorted first, but something to keep in mind at least.
To make it more challenging in the later levels especially you could add things like power ups that change the gameplay in some way. Maybe have green hands pop up occasionally for something positive, and red hands for something you’d want to avoid. These power ups could affect the size of hands, change the speed and duration of raised hands etc.
Some great feedback from Evan here. I agree with using randomized samples for the high five sound effect, there’s nothing worse than repetitive sounds in a game. As nostalgic as it is, sometimes I close my eyes and swear I can still hear that old Final Fantasy menu sound..
But anyway great job on the game so far, can't wait to see it when it's finished.
